Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)
Our Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) works with families to move toward self-sufficiency. We guide participants through the entire process of finding a job and offer personal support.
We provide employment services for Hennepin County, which refers individuals to our services.
We will work with you to identify your interests and skills through a series of assessments that will match you with a career that has the greatest potential for your success.
Services available at our training center equip participants with the necessary skills to find and maintain a job and excel at work.
Our community partnerships enable us to connect program participants with occupational training that leads to employment. Past participants have completed training in skills such as:
- Construction Work
- Customer Service
- Nursing Assistance
Our partnership with organizations and corporations allow us to connect participants with regional employers. We also offer supportive resources to overcome employment barriers such as:
- Child Care
- Mental Health Support
- Housing Services
Qualification for LSS Employment Services requires a referral from the Hennepin County MFIP Coordination Office. You may select LSS as your first choice when applying for MFIP services. We also accept case transfers from other employment service agencies in Hennepin County. We look forward to working with you!
About the MFIP Program
The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) is Minnesota’s federally funded program for low-income families with children. MFIP provides cash, food, health care and child care assistance. When most families apply for MFIP assistance, they must first participate in the Diversionary Work Program (DWP) for four months. If participants cannot find employment while in the DWP, they are referred to an MFIP employment services provider such as LSS.
