We offer families services including adoption, pregnancy counseling, foster care, housing services, crisis nurseries, financial counseling, mental health services and educational groups.

Services for Families

Adoption & Pregnancy

We are dedicated to finding loving adoptive families for children in foster care, infants, and older children/sibling groups here and internationally. We also help people build their family through adoption and provide non-directive counseling to expectant parents facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Center for Changing Lives Minneapolis

This beautiful center in south Minneapolis brings together affordable housing, a Lutheran church and a broad array of services by over a dozen different organizations to support people toward a fuller and more abundant life in the local Phillips community.

Crisis Nurseries

We provide short-term care for children from infancy to age 12 when parents are dealing with a housing crisis, sudden illness or personal emergency. Locations in Duluth, Mankato, St. Cloud and Wright County areas.

Deaf & Hard of Hearing Family Services

LSS’ Deaf & Hard of Hearing Family Services offers unbiased parent-to-parent support, instruction in American Sign Language (ASL), opportunities to develop relationships with successful Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults and training in educational advocacy.

Education & Groups

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota provides education and support groups for families to assure they have resources available to them that will facilitate a successful future.

Families Together Therapeutic Preschool

The Families Together Therapeutic Preschool uses a team approach to support building cognitive, developmental and social-emotional skills of children ages three through five.

Financial Counseling

We offer judgment-free guidance and effective tools to support the financial wellness of individuals, families and organizations. Many services are free and available nationwide

Foster Care

Housing & Assistance

Families and individuals on the path to stable, affordable housing are served through financial assistance, safe housing and case management.

Kinship Family Support

Kinship Family Support Services provides education, information and emotional support for families raising a friend's or relative's child

Older Adults

Independence, wellbeing and relationships are central to our services for older adults. Whether it’s volunteering, enjoying a meal with friends or making financial decisions for the future, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota offers a range of options across the state.

Parenting Support

Support groups and educational opportunities help parents learn effective parenting strategies to improve relationships, maintain stability and keep children safe.

Supervised Visits & Safe Exchange

Supervised Visits help families maintain appropriate relationships in a safe and healthy environment. Safe Exchange is a service for families who need a neutral place to drop off their children and another parent to pick them up for visitation.

Volunteer

We are currently seeking volunteers and interns to make a one-time or on-going commitment for a variety of programs and services in communities throughout Minnesota.
