Responding to Minnesota's Changing Needs

Responding to Minnesota

We are neighbors helping neighbors – Minnesotans rising together to practice compassion. And we are here to support you with personalized services that inspire hope, change lives and build community.

Since 1865, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota has responded to Minnesota's changing needs. Explore our history.

Our 2,400 staff support one in 65 people in Minnesota through a comprehensive range of innovative services and networks. We have a presence in all 87 Minnesota counties. With an annual budget of $208 million funded from public, private and charitable sources, LSS is one of the state’s largest nonprofit social service organizations.

Our work is grounded in two principles – God loves all people without condition and God yearns for us to love the neighbor. These principles call us to help assure that:

  • Children and families will have safe, stable homes and the opportunity to thrive in community.
  • People with disabilities will have access to social services and the opportunity to contribute to community life.
  • Older adults will have choice in the services they need and opportunities to participate in community life.
