Foster Care Information Sessions and Trainings

We have currently suspended all in-person information sessions to safeguard the health and well-being of our communities. To find out more about becoming a foster parent, you can attend a virtual information meeting, including our pre-recorded webinar listed below.

Information Sessions

Information sessions cover the basics of becoming a foster parent in Minnesota. Topics include who is eligible to become a foster care provider, how to become licensed, the children in foster care, foster parenting options and resources available to foster parents.

Informational Webinars on How to Become a Foster Parent

Our webinar covers the same basics as a live information session and is available to view on demand, so it fits with your schedule.

Compassion Fatigue

Sunday, September 24, 2023
4 p.m.-6 p.m.
New Hope for Families | 1028 East 8th Street Duluth, MN 55805
This in-person training is for pre-adoptive, adoptive, foster and kinship caregivers and parents. Compassion fatigue is a preventable consequence of secondary trauma exposure coming from working with anyone who has experienced trauma.

Contact your local foster care coordinator for more information on information sessions or trainings, to answer any other questions you may have or to begin the licensing process.
