The Minnesota Legislature included $3.3 million in the state budget this session to support the distribution of prepared meals to individuals who aren’t able to participate in other state and federal meal programs. The Star Tribune reported on June 14 that the need for food assistance is on the rise, with unprecedented numbers of visits to food shelves during the COVID pandemic. "What COVID did is bring food insecurity to light," said LSS Meals Senior Director Kristin Quenzer.
