Guardian and Conservator Services

LSS offers a range of services to help individuals and older adults ensure their financial, legal and medical affairs are made according to their wishes, now and in the future.

Our Person-Centered Approach

Our person-centered services are designed to preserve the integrity, independence and well-being of individuals. We are committed to offering a high-quality approach to care and decision-making.

Guardianship and Conservatorship

LSS Guardians are appointed by the court to provide Guardianship/Conservatorship services to adults who need help making decisions regarding their health care, living situation and/or finances

Health Care Agent

You can decide how to handle unanticipated medical situations by appointing Lutheran Social Service as your Health Care Agent. A Health Care Agent makes medical decisions for you if you become unable to communicate them yourself.

Personal Representative of the Estate

A Personal Representative of the Estate is the person or organization you choose to settle your estate and carry out the requests outlined in your will. Our staff keep up to date on estate law. They understand the complex process of compiling assets and the best way to handle dealing with creditors and distributions.

Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a written agreement that allows you to appoint a person or organization to manage your legal and financial affairs. By designating LSS as Power of Attorney, you can ensure a trusted agent will manage the practical, financial tasks that arise if you become unable to make them yourself.

Supported Decision Making

Supported Decision Making services include Health Care Agent, Personal Representative of the Estate and Power of Attorney. Services can be combined together according to your needs. LSS Supported Decision Making Services ensures that stated wishes are carried out with professional expertise, compassion and integrity.

We’re here when you need us. Our services are available throughout Minnesota and North Dakota.
