Host Homes Matching Process

The process of searching for a new home to live in can cause anxiety. For the individuals with unique needs supported by Host Homes, finding a provider with the right combination of location, living space, support offered and personality compatibility is essential. LSS Host Homes works with an individual’s team of family members and/or guardians, case manager, social worker and the potential Host Home provider to ensure a positive match for all involved.

Licensed Host Home Providers

LSS carefully screens and selects each Host Home provider, performing a background study before they initiate licensing and training requirements. Training is provided to providers, along with ongoing support and regular visits with a qualified support specialist.

Finding the Right Fit

LSS guides providers and individuals – along with their support team – through matching activities designed to determine compatibility. The provider(s) and the individual share information to determine if details like the home’s location and accessibility are an appropriate match. Then they, along with an LSS representative, are introduced at a public place, like a coffee shop. If that goes well, they spend more time together by having a meal together at a restaurant. Gradually, the individual tours the home, meets other family members and gains perspective on whether the home is a good fit. An overnight stay is then the next step. More visits are arranged until all parties feel ready to move forward in creating a living arrangement together.

The matching process is adapted for each individual’s needs and personality. It helps ensure that the provider and individual supported are compatible and that the fit is right for everyone involved.
