Food and Fellowship Make for a Nice Time of Day

Irene, age 98, is a regular diner at the LSS Senior Nutrition site in Spicer. She lives just a few doors down from the Senior Center and makes her way to lunch with her walker each day. When it’s raining, Geraldine Wadsworth, the LSS Site Manager, picks her up in an electric golf cart donated by another senior diner.

“We have a merry old ride to the Center!" she said with a laugh. “It’s fun."

While Irene is in exceptionally fine health at her age, she says “I can tell I’m getting older!” She has a helper two days a week. When she fell and broke her hip, she needed meals delivered to her apartment while she recovered. “I really couldn’t get around and make meals, so having meals delivered right to my door was a life saver.”

What Irene values most is being able to enjoy a noon meal every day with her friends at the Senior Center. “The fact that I can be with others…well, it’s a nice time of the day.”
