  • Volunteer at LSS

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with LSS. Volunteers are an essential part of what we do. In 2014, over 8,000 LSS volunteers contributed 747,240 hours of service throughout our programs across Minnesota.   We are actively seeking individuals and groups to be a part of this on-going mission.

Opportunities available will vary throughout the state and you can search for opportunities in your area. You are invited to join us to make a difference in your community.

  • Being a Good Neighbor

    Congregations

LSS is proud to again partner with the ECLA and congregations across the state for “God’s Work. Our Hands.” - an annual day to serve your neighbors on Sunday, September 10, 2017. We invite you or your congregation to sign up for one of the following projects:

    • Refugee Services – Donate and assemble kits for newly arrived refugee children. These special boxes contain items that will help our newest neighbors feel welcomed and supported. Note: After School and Baby/Infant Kits are now filled. Please choose a Car safety item or a Senior Nutrition or Youth Services project.

    • Senior Nutrition – Donate and assemble ‘Blizzard Meals' of shelf-stable food items for older adults. Blizzard Meals ensure that LSS Meals on Wheels recipients always have a meal available, even when regular deliveries must be cancelled due to inclement weather.

    • Youth Services – Donate and assemble backpacks with school supplies for children and youth across Minnesota.

Donnette Wheelock, an outstanding volunteer with the LSS REACH drop in shelter for youth experiencing homelessness in Mankato, has been selected to receive the KEYC Jefferson Good People award.  Donnette started volunteering about two years ago, providing food for youth attending life skills classes at the REACH and organizing the donation room’s clothing for young people in need.

As Donnette would say,“it’s about hope and helping.”
