The Star Tribune reported that 800,000 Minnesotans have student loan debt totaling more than $27 million. Now that student loan payments will resume in October, emotions are running high.
In two weeks, bills are coming due for millions of Americans with student loans after a three-year payment pause. Interest already started accruing earlier this month.

She also advises borrowers to prepare by reviewing the federal student loan website, studentaid.gov — a “one-stop shop” of information on managing student loans. “It also provides all of their loan history." Miller said.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, or LSS, is seeking Foster Grandparent volunteers in communities statewide to provide one-to-one mentoring and tutoring for children and youth in the classroom and other settings. “So many children just need a little attention and understanding to make a positive difference in their day. When I volunteer, I know that I have made a difference in their lives,” said Roberta Klekotka, a foster grandparent.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, also serving North Dakota, was awarded $3,000 by the FM Area Foundation to continue supporting older adults in the community through the Senior Companion service. This service provides meaningful opportunities for older adult volunteers, age 55 years and older, who are matched with other older adults that share their interests and need person-to-person support so they can remain healthy and independent.
