Our Home & Family
We have a 10-year old, 4,300 square-foot home with a wheelchair-accessible front entrance. The house sits on a large wooded lot near Minnesota State University - Mankato. The laundry room is located on the main floor, and the basement includes a large family room and bedrooms. The county courthouse, a Hy-Vee station, Cub Foods and the Mankato Clinic/Mayo Clinic are all within two miles of our house. We have two vehicles, and there is also a bus stop just three blocks away. Mr. Johnson is currently working full time at MSU and plans to retire at the end of the school year. Mrs. Johnson currently provides day care for our granddaughter.
The Reason We Open Our Home
We have spent years caring for young families in our home. Moving toward supporting people with disabilities and seniors is a good fit for how we want to spend the next chapter of our lives helping others.
Our Traditions
We have a two-day large family gathering in June every year in the Lanesboro area. We get together with extended family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also work to support the Dakota 38+2 Ride dinner in Mankato every Christmas.
Our Faith & Values
Our favorite saying is, "You don't have anything to prove; you have a path to walk." We are a family who believes in relationship over “rules” and that has strong Christian values of love/mercy/compassion and truth/justice. This has manifested in hospitality and helping those in need. We also believe people are more important than things. How we live our lives matters because when it's all said and done, all we have is our story.
Our Hobbies & Interests
We enjoy the outdoors biking, hiking, picnicking and reading. We also enjoy concerts and plays. We enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Welcome to Our Home!
We are looking to give someone a comfortable room to call their own. They are welcome to decorate it and make it their own. We will have meals together when it works out. We have a wonderful church family. Any individual that comes into our home will be invited to join us at church activities as well. They will be welcome to be a part of our family gatherings and outings. We will also take trips and go on outings together.
