Our Home & Family
Our three-acre property includes two bedrooms on the main level and one on the lower level. A back porch offers privacy to enjoy a peaceful, small wetland area. Our home is near restaurants, grocery stores and shopping centers.
We are semi-retired; we work a little, share meals together, read and watch TV. In the summertime, we are outside gardening, landscaping, taking motorcycle trips, sitting around the fire pit and enjoying nature. We love traveling, especially visiting our daughter in Australia.
The Reason We Open Our Home
Sharing our home and family with a person with disabilities is the next step in the progression of our lives. Professional experiences in personal care assistance and hospice care solidified a calling to help others. We’ve also had great experiences matching students from abroad to host families in Minnesota.
Our Traditions
Celebrating life’s accomplishments and happy moments with family is important to us. Christmas festivities are extra special, including cutting down our own tree and decorating together.
Our Faith & Values
Our deep Christian values call us to love others. We believe our lives are best spent as blessings to people in need, sharing what God has so graciously given us. Although we are Christian, our home is open to all backgrounds, faiths and beliefs.
Our Hobbies & Interests
We enjoy listening to music, taking our camera with us on walks through nature and playing cards and games. To completely relax, we enjoy watching TV and movies. Some other hobbies include knitting, crocheting and sewing. Attending church and volunteering are pillars of our community life.
