Important Update: Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota has been honored to offer RentEd. to Property Owners for the past several years, with help from a special grant. Due to changes in laws and requirements in the rental housing industry, this training education now requires updates. At this time, we will be discontinuing this training effective September 30, 2023. We value our partnership with many dedicated Property Owners in Minnesota who work with us to provide a stable place to live for families, individuals and young adults we serve.
Lutheran Social Service (LSS) is Minnesota’s largest nonprofit social service organization serving nearly 100,000 people of all ages in each of Minnesota’s 87 counties and in more than 300 communities.
RentEd. originated from Housing Services, which is a program area within LSS. We have over 25 years of experience in working with property owners and the housing industry. Initially, our service scope was to provide direct services, including housing search, to families and youth experiencing homelessness.
Over the years our work naturally expanded to education on Tenant and Property Owner rights and responsibilities. In 2008, we created Keys to Successful Rental Living, a classroom tenant education training. Since its implementation we have trained over 500 individuals in Minnesota.
Our education format for Property Owners was conducted in a 1:1 format. We began to see that Property Owners had many of the same questions as Tenants.
We understand that being a rental Property Owners is a business. To achieve a successful business—Property Owners new to the rental business need answers to the who, what, when, where and how of the rental housing industry. Existing Property Owners need access to recent changes in the laws in order to keep abreast of new requirements and to protect their asset. Also, hearing accurate information and advice from field experts leads to the operation of a successful business.
This is why Rent Ed. was created. This online education tool easily allows Property Owners to receive information at any time of the day (24/7) from the convenience of their home or office.
