GROWTH, COMMUNITY AND FAMILY IMPORTANT TO THE BUNI FAMILY
I am Mohammed Buni, and I have a large and loving family with children ranging in age from 3 to 11 years old. Our home is split level, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and is located in Saint Paul. There are also parks and paths to walk around a nearby lake, and we are in close proximity to Maplewood Mall. The neighborhood is a quiet residential street near public transportation.
A couple of ways that my family shows that we care are through respect, communication, listening to each other and sharing the things we have. But the most important thing is love! No matter who comes to our home, we will embrace and include this person in our family.
A perfect day for us is usually on the weekends, when we focus on activities like swimming, going to parks and types of recreation. We like to spend time with our extended families, cooking and allowing our children to play and interact.
Our family engages our community by attending a lot of cultural and religious programs associated with the Somali community. This is important to us because it allows our children to understand and be proud of who they are. Additionally, sharing our cultural food with our neighbors is an effective way of strengthening and building a stronger community.
Someone who moves into our home will be able to decorate and organize their room the way that makes them feel comfortable. The room will have all the amenities they need. If there are additional things that they would like, we will do our best to provide it.
Being safe, healthy and happy are all very important to us. Family dinners are also important because they allow us to talk about daily experiences. Our family believes strongly in continual growth. We want to use what time we have to better ourselves and ultimately our community and family.
Working as a medical transportation provider for several years, I have experience with people from all walks of life with different medical and emotional needs. This wide range of experiences has taught me how to listen and be more flexible with each situation.
We will create a positive environment for someone who moves into our home so that they will feel empowered. In order to develop a positive, long-term relationship, we must develop trust and build communication skills.
