LSS provides children’s therapeutic services in the Alexandria area, including behavioral health counseling, skills-building programs, and family support. In addition to these local services, we offer a wide range of mental wellness resources for children and families statewide.

Child Counseling and Family Therapy

At LSS, we provide diagnostic assessments and personalized care for children and families. Our experienced clinicians support individuals with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral or emotional health concerns.

Our services include:

  • Individual counseling for children and teens
  • Family therapy to strengthen relationships
  • Skill-building programs that promote resilience and emotional regulation

These services help improve your child’s long-term mental and emotional well-being, and ability to thrive at home, in school, and in the community.

The Incredible Years Parenting Program is a 12-week program that teaches you the ins and outs of parenting. From time-outs and consequence to incentives and rewards, our providers will teach you parenting techniques that are effective, can strengthen your child’s emotional health and are designed for the best outcome. Dinner and childcare will be provided free of charge at each session.
 

Intensive In-Home Treatment (IIT)

LSS provides Intensive In-Home Treatment for families in crisis, delivering support directly in your home. Our licensed clinicians work with your family on a regular basis to help you:

  • Strengthen family relationships
  • Improve communication skills
  • Build resilience and coping strategies for life’s challenges
  • Enhance mental and emotional well-being 

Through in-home counseling and skills training, we empower families to create a stable, supportive environment and promote long-term mental wellness.
 

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Childhood emotion and behavior disorders often influence the way parents and children interact. Through a combination of observation, therapeutic coaching and skill building, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) strengthens the relationship you have with your child and positively impacts your child’s behaviors, emotional well-being, mental wellness and resilience.

Through partnerships with schools across Minnesota, LSS offers individual counseling and skills-building services during the school day—making care accessible and convenient for children and their families.

Eligibility: Your child must have a behavioral health diagnosis and attend a public school in Wheaton area schools (Traverse County).
 

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy 

Our team recognizes the immense impact adverse emotional, physical and psychological experiences can have. For children and families who have experienced such events, TF-CBT is an effective and recommended treatment option. Our compassionate counselors will help your child and family manage feelings, talk about your experiences in a safe and supportive space, and develop plans for feeling safe in the future.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy 

TI-CPP is a therapy for parents and children ages birth through five years who had adverse emotional and/or psychological experiences and/or experiencing attachment or behavioral issues. This therapeutic treatment is used to support and strengthen parent/child relationships, restore a sense of safety and attachment and foster healthy child development.
