Changes to the federal W-4 form for 2020
The IRS has made significant changes to the federal W-4 form for 2020.
A new federal W-4 form is required for:
- Workers hired in 2020
- Workers who claimed exempt status for 2019
- Workers who wish to make withholding changes during 2020
Workers who submit a new federal W-4 form must also complete a new state W-4 form.
If you do not need to submit a new form this year, withholding will continue based on your previously submitted form.
