Trauma & Children: Emotional Reactions & Common Coping Behaviors
Through this presentation, you will learn how stress affects brain development, emotional reactions you may see as a result of children experiencing violence or abuse, common coping behaviors and how you can best support a child who has experienced trauma.
Presenter: Sherry Boock is the Children's Program Coordinator for the Center gainst Sexual & Domestic Abuse (CASDA) in Superior, Wisconsin. She provides advocacy, support and peer counseling to children who are victims or witnesses of abuse, as well as their protective caregivers. Sherry has been in this role at CASDA for 4 years but worked for many years as a Shelter Advocate, supporting families as they move through the Shelter Program. She has three amazing children, a wonderful partner and a silly old dog.
