Red Path - Independent Living Skills Program

Independent living skills, transition planning and case management to help youth transition from care to living on their own.

Red Path is a free Independent Living Skills (ILS) program offered to youth ages 16-21 who are currently in or have aged out of care, including foster care, residential treatment, group homes, and other types of residential care services.

Youth interested in participating should contact Red Path ILS at 888.828.4383.

Referrals are also accepted by case workers, probation officers, therapists, teachers, and other caring adults. Please note, youth participation is voluntary.

Red Path services are offered throughout the Brainerd Lakes area, including Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties.

The LSS Red Path program offers:

Independent Living Skills (ILS) Group Training
Youth meet weekly to discuss topics such as:

  • Budgeting and finance
  • Juvenile justice
  • Healthy relationships
  • First impressions
  • Renters education
  • Sexual health
  • Diversity

Transition planning
We provide one on one case management and individual transition planning services for youth that will age out of care into independence.

Leadership and Community Development
We offer monthly retreats with all of our program youth. The retreats focus is on developing healthy peer relationships, learning about topics that are relevant to the group and participating in service learning projects.
