Friendly Visitor - LSS Guardianship Options, St. Paul

Population Served: Vulnerable Adults, Seniors, Developmentally Disabled

Type of Opportunity: Individual (2-3 persons might share responsibility). Must be 18. Background checks required. Serving vulnerable adults, who because of age or disability cannot be responsible for themselves.

Opportunity Description: A volunteer's friendship will enhance and expand the life of a vulnerable adult. Possible activities: visit at place of residence, take for a walk, have lunch, go bowling, assist with small purchases, teach a new skill. Training provided. Requires caring heart, willing hands, non-judgmental attitude. Experience with developmentally disabled, mentally ill, or frail elderly is helpful, but not required. Mileage and expenses reimbursed. Paid in smiles and personal satisfaction.

Time Commitment: A volunteer is asked to make a 6-month commitment to spend 2-4 hours per month with a client. Volunteer schedules time directly with client. Need is ongoing.
