Bus Lesson Leader - LSS Refugee and Employment Programs

Population Served: Newly-arrived refugees and their families.

Type of Opportunity:  Empower a refugee by leading them through a lesson on how to use the public transportation system in the Metro area.

Opportunity Description: Opportunity Description: Most refugees have little or no experience using our public transportation system, yet this becomes their main means of transportation. Make this learning process much smoother by:

  • Teaching refugees how to use a bus schedule and to figure out bus routes
  • Talk about bus fees, tokens, transfers, and bus stops
  • Help refugees figure out their bus route to get home

Time Commitment: The lesson takes one hour and occurs every other Thursday morning from 11:00 to noon.
