Holiday Gift Program
Volunteers - Sponsor A Family
Population Served: Serves diverse populations
Type
of Opportunity: Several opportunities for
individuals or groups who can help with customer service phone
bank, data entry, registration of donors and gift drop-off and
distribution.
Opportunity Description: During the holiday season,
it can be a struggle for financially disadvantaged families
and individuals to experience joy and hope. Catholic Charities
and Lutheran Social Service jointly support the "Sponsor A
Family" program that connects client families with donors who
shop for gifts of clothes, toys, and basic household
necessities. The personal matching distinguishes this holiday
gift program as one that meets the individual needs and wishes
of the recipients.
Volunteers are
needed to help with donor registration, customer
service phone bank, and data entry from October through
mid-December. There are coordinating offices in two locations:
The St. Lawrence-Newman Center at 1201 5th Street SE,
Minneapolis and Mary Hall, 438 Main St. St. Paul. In
mid-December, volunteers are needed to help at gift
distribution sites in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Through
your gift of time and talents, you can bring joy and hope to
hundreds of families in the Twin Cities communities! Please
see the program web site at
www.sponsorafamily.org
for more details and the volunteer schedule. You can apply to
volunteer on-line!
