of Opportunity: Individual
Opportunity Description: Come and be a friend and
guide for a refugee during the challenging first
months of living in a new culture. Consider helping our clients to:
- Help family members learn
the English language.
- Take a tour around the Twin
Cities.
- Help out with a job
application or practice interview skills.
- Take the children to a park
to give the parent’s a break
- Call on a landlord who might
be taking advantage of the refugee tenant
- Find out answers to
questions about confusing bills/letters.
- Invite the refugee family
out for lunch, or to meet your own family/friends.
- Teach a refugee how to make
minor household repairs.
- Assist a refugee child in
registering for school.
Time
Commitment:
3 times per month.
Flexible according to mentor’s and refugee’s schedule.
