Computer Lab Assistant - LSS Refugee and Employment Programs

Population Served: Newly-arrived refugees

Type of Opportunity: Empower a refugee by assisting them to become work-ready in the United States.

Opportunity Description: Self-sufficiency is the main goal of the Refugee and Employment Program staff. Many times, work culture in the U.S. is very different from what a newly-arrived refugee may be familiar with. Help out in our Technology and Education Center (TEC) by:

  • Teaching refugees the correct way to fill out job applications
  • Aiding in job searching
  • Practicing interviewing skills
  • Tutors also inform refugees about cultural aspects to job search that may not be apparent to a new comer!

Time Commitment: TEC assistants are asked to come in once weekly for at least a month. Morning sessions are from 9-12 MTThF.
