LSS AmeriCorps - Legacy Corps Member

Population Served: Families who provide continuous, ongoing care for adult, youth, child and infant family members and who would benefit from respite services provided by program members.

Type of Opportunity: Provide respite service and companionship to families in the community who care for other family members. AmeriCorps - Legacy Corps Members are compassionate, patient, flexible and respect others. Serve 450 hours in a 12-month period and receive a living allowance of $200 per month plus a $1250 education award. AmeriCorps offers the opportunity to serve others while using and developing personal strengths and skills.

Opportunity Description:
AmeriCorps - Legacy Corps Members:

  • Provide competent, reliable and on-going respite service to their assigned families.
  • Offer companionship, encouragement and support to family members.
  • Act as part of the family's support team to help keep the family intact and healthy while caring for another family member.

Time Commitment: One-year term of service with a minimum commitment of 450 hours in the year.
