Pre-Employment Skills Teacher  - Refugee Employment and Social Service Program

Population Served: Refugees who have been in the US less than 5 years

Type of Opportunity: Teacher or teaching assistant for a pre-employment skills class

Opportunity Description: Newly arrived refugees often find the US job search process to be different from what they have experienced in the past. Filling out an application, taking a standardized skills test, and understanding benefits information are all skills that must be learned in order to successfully find and keep a job in the US. Volunteers are needed to teach or to work as classroom assistants in two new classes for refugees seeking jobs. The curriculum covers application, interviewing, and test-taking skills as well as orientation to US workplaces.

Time Commitment: Two hours per week for at least two months.
