Job Search Assistant - Refugee Employment and Social Service Program

Population Served: Refugees who have been in the US less than 5 years

Type of Opportunity: Ongoing opportunity for individuals or small groups of college age and up

Opportunity Description: Many refugees have a difficult time finding jobs, not only because of language differences, but because they're not used to the job search conventions and skills particular to the US. Volunteers are needed to work one-on-one with clients to walk them through some of the common steps: help them fill out job applications, prepare them for interviews, etc. Job search assistants will also help the program manager with data entry, do research on job openings in the area, and perform other tasks based on need and on volunteers' interests. Volunteers should be able to write clearly and correctly.

Time Commitment: This is an ongoing opportunity. Time commitment and scheduling are flexible. Volunteer duties will be performed during normal working hours.
