less than 5 years
Type
of Opportunity: Communication with area employers.
Ongoing opportunity for one or more volunteers.
Opportunity Description: The Refugee Employment and
Social Service Program prepares clients for the employment
opportunities they will encounter, but much of our work
involves discovering and creating opportunities through
communication with local businesses. An Employer Liaison
volunteer is needed to help the Program Manager cultivate
employer connections in order to increase the program's
capacity to serve clients. Duties include:
- Developing relationships
with employers
- Communicating with employers
about job fairs, application status, etc
- Discussing employees'
cultural needs and possible accommodations with employers
- Doing research on job
openings and community employment resources for clients
Volunteers should be
comfortable communicating with members of the business
community. Experience working in a multicultural environment
is helpful.
Time
Commitment:
This is an ongoing
opportunity. Time commitment and scheduling are flexible.
Volunteer duties will be performed during normal working
hours.
