Refugee Mentor - LSS Refugee Services

Population Served: Refugees

Type of Opportunity:  Individuals to serve as mentors for refugees/new Americans in Moorhead and Pelican Rapids communities who need help with English (speaking, reading, writing, filling out job applications, etc. at all levels of competency). Specific help is also needed for students in the Certified Nursing Assistant program course. No prior teaching or ESL experience required, just a willingness to help a new American become integrated into the community.

Opportunity Description: Working one-on-one with refugees/new Americans as they learn English skills - speaking, reading, writing. Mentoring individuals or families as they attempt to integrate into the community.

Time Commitment: One hour per week at a time and place mutually agreeable.
