Foster Grandparent -
LSS Foster Grandparent Program
Population Served: Children and youth with special
needs
Type
of Opportunity: Provide tutoring and mentoring with
children and youth primarily in school, Head Start and day
care settings. A tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement and
other benefits are available to program volunteers.
Opportunity Description:
- Provide a stable and caring
presence
- Listen and offer
encouragement to children or youth
- Provide one-on-one tutoring
and mentoring in the classroom
- Create a bridge between
generations
- Assist with reading and math
assignments, helping children remain focused
Time
Commitment:
Ongoing, 15-20 hours a
week
