Strengthening Women and Men of Service and their Families

CORE Banner

Since 2008, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) to support military members, Veterans, and their families in maintaining their well-being. The C.O.R.E. (Counseling and Case Management, Outreach, Referral, and Education) program provides free, confidential services statewide for eligible Veterans and their families. The first program of its kind in the nation, C.O.R.E. strives to remove all barriers to empower Veterans and military families in Minnesota to find the professional services and support they need in the community to improve their quality of life and find stability and health.

Counseling and Case Management

We understand that every person’s situation is unique. At LSS Behavioral Health, C.O.R.E. case managers formulate an individualized plan of action for each Veteran, military member, and family served. Your case manager walks the walk with you, connecting you to the support and services necessary, whether it be a referral or the oversight of a care plan.

Outreach and Referral

Our C.O.R.E. case managers make certain that all those we serve are linked to appropriate services. If it is determined an individual or family would benefit from a service that LSS of MN does not offer, connections with our state-wide provider network and other organizations will be initiated on your behalf.

Community education is offered in order to deepen understanding of the challenges faced by service members, Veterans, and their families. We work with healthcare systems, community organizations, and educational institutions to de-stigmatize behavioral health issues and bring the needs of Veterans and service members to the forefront.

C.O.R.E. offers the following services:

Behavioral Health Counseling

LSS Behavioral Health has dedicated trauma-trained staff who have worked with military members and their families for almost a decade. Several are Veterans themselves.
