Senior Companions

Foster Grandparents

Senior Companions are adults, 60 years of age and older, who provide support to help other seniors live independent lives.

Senior Companions:

Visit homebound seniors to prevent isolation
Provide transportation to medical appointments and other errands
Give caregivers a break
Act as a resource and advocate who listens and cares

Foster Grandparents are adults, 60 years of age and older, who mentor disadvantaged and disabled children and youth.
   
Foster Grandparents:

Tutor children

Mentor pre-school and Head Start children

Offer support to youth in residential centers

Provide a positive example so children can learn to lead successful lives.

The LSS Senior Companions or Foster Grandparents services are available through Minnesota. Please call our toll free 1.888.205.3770 for services in your area. If you would like to become a Senior Companion or Foster Grandparent volunteer, click here. Requirements are: age 60+. Able to commit to 15+ hours a week. Tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement, liability insurance and training provided.
