LSS Refugee Services:
Refugee Resettlement Services
During the first three months after a refugee arrives in the United States, LSS Refugee Services provides various types of resettlement assistance. LSS Refugee Services stands as a reference for many newly arrived people to community resources. The resettlement case managers ensure that basic needs (food, shelter, clothing) are met. In addition, many of our employees are bi-lingual and assist refugees with translation/interpretation services until the refugees are more comfortable with the English language.
Case managers provide many services, including:
- Post-arrival orientation to the United States
- Filing for Social Security cards and Employment Authorization Documents
- Registering clients in various employment or public assistance programs
- Registering children into school
- Home visits
- Referring clients to other services, including public health
