Ideas for Congregations and Individuals to help with our Summer Campaign

Events

Host a church potluck and ask for donations

Host a bake sale

Hold a Silent auction. Possible bid items are: Dinner at a restaurant, round of golf, etc

Collect recipes for a cookbook to sell. Donate proceeds to LSS

Host "Our Immigration Heritage Dinner". Highlight America's long tradition of immigration and how immigrants add to the diversity and richness of our country

Show films like “Lost Boys” or other videos (Refugee related or not) and accept donations for viewing or charge for popcorn, etc

Host a church garage sale

Throw a house party

Put together a tour of ethnic centers or shows

Develop and implement a presentation about world cultures/religions – or invite an LSS Refugee staff member to make a presentation

Host a car wash

"Teach" a class, e.g. Scrapbooking, basic Somali phrases Others

Donate car to Cars with Heart - www.carswithheart.com – sales donations go to LSS Refugee & Employment Services

Cell phone and ink cartridges – recycle boxes available from LSS upon request
