LSS Family Resource Center (Iron Range)
Treating youth with dignity and respect while providing a safe environment and a vision of hope. 

The Family Resource Center is owned and operated by Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS). We provide services to youth and their families as they encounter crisis or major difficulties.

Our professional, trained staff use an approach based on strengths to help youth overcome behavioral or environmental issues. Our programs emphasize the importance of responsible behavior in forming healthy relationships.

We serve….
Youth who are referred by county social service providers, the court system,
area law enforcement and probation. Youth are referred to our programs for
one or more of the following reasons:

Family conflict Parental neglect
Running away Delinquency
Chemical abuse Emotional difficulties
Physical or sexual abuse Truancy or school difficulties
Mental health issues    

LSS services provided at the Family Resource Center

Range Youth Shelter: is a 10-bed, 24-hour shelter that offers emergency, short-term care to youth ages 0-17.

Supervised Visitation Program: provides a supervisor for families who require monitoring during visits with their children.

Safe Exchange Service: offers parents an opportunity to exchange custody of their children without parental contact when there is existing conflict and/or safety concerns.

Respite Care Program: provides respite for caregivers of children with
Severe Emotional Disturbances. It is a 2-day weekend, education and activity
focused program based on positive reinforcement of fundamental skills of
daily life.

Positive Directions: promotes a positive, one-to-one proactive and constructive relationship between a caring, qualified adult and a child in a therapeutic relationship. This program is paid for by MA and meets their requirements.
