Camp
Knutson Quilt Auction Breaks Record
The 19th
Annual Camp Knutson Quilt Auction set a record by raising over $53,000 for
the Camp on Saturday, August 13. 163 quilts, made by various quilters from
all over Minnesota, were auctioned off at the event, sponsored by the Paul
Bunyan Regional Auxiliary of Lutheran Social Service.
"We are so
thankful to those who donated the beautiful quilts and to those people who
came to the auction and purchased quilts," said Rob Larson, Camp Knutson
director. "It was an amazing outpouring of love and support for the
children we serve here at camp."
Over 400
people attended the event, and the money raised surpassed the old record
by over $20,000. Larson, who did a cartwheel after every quilt sale of
$1,000 or more, said that no quilt in previous years had sold for more
than about $1,500. He exhausted himself because so many sold for more than
$1,000 this year, and the most expensive quilt sold for $5,000. Thrivent
Financial for Lutherans also gave a matching gift of $1,000.
Camp

Camp Knutson Quilt Auction will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006. For
