Service of Minnesota Names Bill Vanderwall Vice President
ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 19,
2004) - Bill Vanderwall has been named vice president of Community
Services for St. Paul-based Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.
Across Minnesota, Lutheran
Social Service employs 2,300 staff who offer vital community services to
people of all ages - from crisis shelters, mental health counseling and
adoption to Customized Living Services in rural areas, senior nutrition programs,
foster care and community homes for persons with disabilities. The mission
of the organization is to express the love of Christ for all people
through acts of service. The organization's 2004 budget is $72.6 million.
Vanderwall will have
responsibilities for strategic management and planning for key initiatives
relative to services with children and families. Those services include
housing, adoption, youth services, financial counseling, mental health
counseling and Lifeworks Employee Resource, disaster services, financial
counseling, and refugee and employment services.
Vanderwall brings over 15
years of professional experience in social services to his new executive
position. Most recently, he served as director of Housing Services for
Lutheran Social Service.
Vanderwall graduated with
honors from Augsburg College in Minneapolis and received a bachelor's
degree in Management Communications with a minor in Business
Administration.
Currently, Vanderwall is
president of the Phillips Park Initiative Board of Directors and president
of the Augsburg College Alumni Board. He is a founding board member and
board vice chair of HousingLink, Inc. and is a member of a variety of
community organizations, including the National Alliance to End
Homelessness, the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and the Citizen's
League. Vanderwall resides with his family in the Mac-Groveland
neighborhood of St. Paul.
