Lutheran Social
Service of Minnesota Names Jeri Schoonover Vice President
ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 19,
2004) - Jeri (Braun) Schoonover, a native of St. Charles, Minn., has been
named vice president of Community Services for St. Paul-based Lutheran
Social Service of Minnesota.
Across Minnesota, Lutheran
Social Service employs 2,300 staff who offer vital community services to
people of all ages - from crisis shelters, mental health counseling and
adoption to Customized Living Services in rural areas, senior nutrition programs,
in-home support and community homes for persons with disabilities. The
mission of the organization is to express the love of Christ for all
people through acts of service. The organization's 2004 budget is $72.6
million.
Schoonover will have
responsibilities for strategic management and planning for key initiatives
relative to services with seniors and people with special needs. Those
services include Home and Community Living Services, Customized Living Services, Guardianship and Conservatorship, Senior Nutrition, Caregiver
Respite Services, Senior Companion and Foster Grandparent programs, and
Camp Knutson.
Schoonover brings over 20
years of professional experience in social services to her new executive
position, with special expertise serving people with disabilities. Most
recently, she was a senior director for Home and Community Living Services
at Lutheran Social Service.
Schoonover holds a
bachelor's degree in recreation, parks and community education from
Mankato State University in Mankato, Minn. Currently, she serves on the
Board of Directors for ARRM and on the Board of Directors for Providers of
Southeast Minnesota. She is also a member of the Lutheran Services in
America Disability Network. She resides with her family in Lino Lakes,
Minn.
