Financial Counseling & Financial Planning

Struggling with financial hurdles can take a toll on all areas of your health.

As a NuVantage Employee Resource member, you have access to specially trained financial counselors who can help you take charge of your money habits and get your finances back on track.

When you call, a NuVantage benefits specialist will ask you a few questions to learn about your needs before connecting you with a certified consumer credit counselor who will meet with you, evaluate your situation, and help you to develop a realistic and practice plan of action.

  • Developing realistic budgeting and saving plans
  • Creating Debt Management Plans
  • Answering housing questions (buying, selling, foreclosure)
  • Looking at how to create room in for your budget for retirement savings
  • Exploring student loan options and how payment fits in your budget
  • Educating about healthy money behaviors and choices
  • Reviewing credit reports and offering concrete recommendations to repair your credit
  • Providing tips on identifying and avoiding scams
  • Pre-bankruptcy counseling and post-bankruptcy counseling

Financial Counselors are available during regular business hours, as well as some evenings. Services are available in person, by phone or online.

To schedule an appointment, please call us Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. If you feel you have an urgent need, don’t hesitate to call. On-call financial counselors are available to speak with you over the phone throughout the day as well.

Financial counselors do not represent any investment services and cannot advise you on specific investment opportunities. Financial counseling sessions are confidential and our counselors are “non- reporting”, which means no information can be reported to any other entities such as the IRS or credit bureaus.  No information ever goes back to your employer.

Certified financial planners can help with:

  • Planning for protecting financial assets during life events such as retirement and divorce
  • Discussing and addressing Tax Issues and  Medicare asset issues
  • Examining IRA Rollovers / Money Market Accounts
  • Discussing internet stock trading and mutual funds as well as corporate and savings bonds
  • Finding a local financial adviser in your community
