Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer
In May 2007, Jodi Harpstead was appointed
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Lutheran Social
Service of Minnesota (LSS). She leads efforts in Services, Human
Resources, Information Technology and Finance. With over 2,200 employees,
LSS offers a broad array of community services for people of all ages
throughout Minnesota, including housing and crisis shelters, mental health
counseling, adoption, financial counseling, senior nutrition, foster care
and services for persons with disabilities. Harpstead joined LSS in 2004
as Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer, and led efforts in
marketing, fund development, public relations, volunteer services and
public policy.
Prior to joining LSS, Harpstead was an
executive for 23 years with Medtronic, Inc. She held several key positions
within Medtronic, including President of Global Marketing and U.S. Sales
in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. Most recently, she was vice
president and general manager of Cardiac Surgery Technologies. An
exceptional leader and staff developer, Harpstead helped to grow revenue
in a variety of businesses at the pioneering medical device organization.
Harpstead currently serves as treasurer on the Board of Directors for
Delta Dental Plan of Minnesota. She also serves as on the Board of Regents
of Augsburg College in Minneapolis and has volunteered in leadership
capacities for a variety of other organizations, including the Plymouth
Christian Youth Center, Lutheran Campus Ministry of Minnesota, and her own
congregation, the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Shoreview.
Harpstead holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and
a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Michigan State
University in East Lansing, Mich.
