directly to service. What’s more, the Minnesota Charities Review Council has
recognized LSS as "meeting all standards."
If you are considering a charitable gift to support the helping work
of LSS, look first to your stock portfolio. Stocks that have grown in value and that you
have held for more than one year can become a substantial gift to LSS, made at a low cost
to you. You will receive the charitable deduction for the donation of the assets based on
the fair market value on the date of the gift. The bonus is - you avoid all federal
capital gains tax that would otherwise be due on the sale of this asset.
To realize the tax and financial advantages of contributing stock
this year, be sure to complete your gift to LSS by December 31st.
