Why do we need you?
The answer is simple: There are
not enough people willing to open up their homes to the almost
11,300 Minnesota children in the foster care system. At LSS we
are looking for foster parents as diverse as the children they
care for. There is not one “type” of family that works best as
foster parents.
Some of our
best foster parents:
- Are single and others are
married
- Have two incomes, with both
parents working outside the home; other families have one
parent that chooses to stay at home
- Have no kids of their own;
some have teenagers at home, other families are “empty
nesters”
- Live in larger cities, while
others are located in more rural settings
What we are saying is that we
need you!
Because we have years of
experience in working with foster care, we do know some of the
characteristics true of almost all foster parents.
Foster
Parents:
- Enjoy working with and helping
kids
- Are extremely flexible
- Are understanding of
differences
- Are active and willing to be
involved in foster children’s school and community activities
