Empty Bowls event March 20 draws attention to hunger

LSS, New Beginnings, Place of Hope, and the Paramount Arts District are partnering to produce this year's Empty Bowls Soup Feed Benefit in St. Cloud on Sunday, March 20. Empty Bowls is an internationally recognized program designed to draw attention to the problem of hunger around the world. For $10 (individual) or $30 (family), attendees will get soup, bread, and a beverage, and can enjoy a variety of entertainment. Each person can keep their "Benefactor Bowl" after the event as a reminder that someone's bowl is always empty. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to benefit LSS Youth Programs, New Beginnings, and Place of Hope Ministries.

Volunteers from several area schools, colleges, and churches have been
making thousands of new bowls for this event. Several restaurants, bakeries, and food suppliers are supplying the food, and artists from the St. Cloud area have donated a collection of fine pottery to be auctioned off.

Festivities will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Paramount Arts
District, 913 West St. Germain Street, in St. Cloud. To make bowls or
volunteer, contact Conni Orth, LSS St. Cloud Area Crisis Nursery, at (320) 654-1090 or scloudcn@lssmn.org
