Employment Services

Employment services at the Eastside Financial Center support individuals in seeking and maintaining employment.  Our employment services are geared to helping people and their families reach their longterm financial goals. We stay with you on your path to success, giving you the help you need along the way.

Employment Counseling

Whether you are looking for the “job for now” or ready to focus on your career, your employment is a major contributing factor to your livelihood, income, and financial capability. Let us meet you where you are to help you take the steps towards obtaining a stable, rewarding, and fulfilling career in your chosen field.

Our employment programs use multiple approaches to help you to achieve financial wellness and capability. In addition to working with an employment counselor on employment goals, you will also work with a financial counselor on financial goals (and review your budget, credit, debt (including student loans), and discuss other financial needs), and get connected to resources to help you while you are in transition (instead of dipping into your savings or borrowing from friends and family).

Work one-on-one with Employment and Financial Counselors to develop and customize a plan of action to meet your goals, and get guidance as you put your plan in motion.

The employment coaching you receive will help you develop an action plan to support your individual goals of:

  • Finding a new job
  • Increasing your income
  • Making a lateral or upward move at your current job
  • Creating or fine tuning job search documents and interview skills
  • Developing work skills
  • Connecting to training and certification opportunities
  • Transitioning from a job into a career

Employment Counselors are connected to specialized training opportunities, job fairs, employment opportunities, and employers, as well as the best job search websites, and other online job search networking sites.

Bridges to Career Opportunities

Get the education you need for the education you want!

The Bridges to Career Opportunities (BCO) program connects job-seekers looking to enter or advance in two specific career pathways: healthcare or construction with basic and occupational skills training, credentialing, or post-secondary educational opportunities.

The BCO program builds upon the Center's Financial Opportunity program which integrates employment coaching, financial coaching, and income support services to empower individuals to increase earnings, reduce financial transaction costs and build wealth for themselves and their families.

Career Exploration & Personal Development

Find your calling.

• Assess your skills, explore careers that fit your experience, and the requirements needed.

• Identify career and financial goals, develop action plans, and receive customized guidance and resources.

• Work on self-presentation skills to effectively share your unique talents.

• Services are free and available to anyone 18 years and older.

Take the time to explore careers you are interested in, what they entail, and what kinds of requirements are needed (education, credentials, etc.). Assess your skills and see what careers are a good fit for your skills and experience. Get closer to finding the career you were meant to do.

Be the best you that you can be. Set goals for yourself and think about the steps you need to take to achieve your goals. Work on self-presentation skills. Talking about yourself does not come naturally to everyone. Develop ways to share information about yourself with others that may help you develop personally and professionally.
