LSS FINANCIAL COUNSELING SERVICE
A CONSUMER CREDIT COUNSELING SERVICE PROGRAM

FINANCIAL EDUCATION

LSS Financial Counseling Service promotes financial literacy. We believe that financial education creates choice and the opportunity to build a financial future.

We provide workshops for all age groups, tailored to the needs of your group. We can deliver these programs to community groups, classrooms, churches, employers, and can also offer "train-the-trainer" for agencies.

We offer financial education four ways:

Financial Education Workshops
Usually 1-2 hours per topic. Here is a sampling of individual workshops we offer:

  • Money management and money personality
  • Consumer protection and identity theft
  • Finding money to start saving and investing
  • Living on reduced income during transitions
  • Building good credit to improve your score

Financial Literacy Classes
Usually 8 hours total (four weekly 2-hour sessions) using the Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy curriculum (click here to see curriculum)

  • Budgeting to create savings
  • Debt reduction and asset building
  • Improving credit rating
  • Consumer protection and financial institutions

Train-the-Trainer
Usually 4-8 hours total, depending on depth. This special training is for front-line workers to build the technical financial expertise and comfort to do financial coaching and classes with their clients. Done successfully with over 500 workers to date.
