Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is the largest nonprofit social service organization in Minnesota with over 2,200 employees who serve over 100,000 children and families, people with disabilities, and Minnesota’s older adults.  LSS has an extraordinary opportunity for a Development Officer to assist in raising funds to support LSS work in northwest Minnesota. Primary focus will be on maintaining and growing existing relationships in this important area of the state. The Development Officer will also cultivate new relationships with individuals, community organizations, congregations, businesses, and foundations to expand the work of LSS in the northwest and statewide.  The Development Officer will create a strong LSS volunteer advisory committee to assist in marketing and development in northwest Minnesota. The Development Officer will collaborate with LSS service directors and advancement staff to develop and implement fundraising strategies to expand LSS support for Minnesota’s most needy citizens.
The ideal candidate will have a BA or equivalent experience. He or she must possess a successful record (3-5 years) in non profit fundraising. Residency or recent work experience in northwest Minnesota is desired. A driver’s license is required as the position demands extensive travel.

BS Degree in Computer/Telephony Science or directly related field plus 3-5 years of experience. Directly related experience may be substituted for education. Experience negotiating and monitoring telecommunication contracts, including ongoing monitoring of telecomm related invoices. Strong experience in troubleshooting and problem resolution on networked and stand-alone telephony (Nortel experience preferred) and data network connectivity equipment. Specialized experience in a broad array of state-of-the-art technical areas including IP telephony, data communications, systems integration, and design of enterprise information systems is required. Provide supervision, guidance, encouragement, support, comfort and safety to 3 individuals in their home.   Observe, listen and respond to individuals with dignity and respect.  Encourage individuals to be as independent as possible.  Give guidance, direction and training for direct support professionals.  Participate in the development of individual program plans.   Assist individuals with financial management.  Accompany individuals to medical appointments.   Maintain a home-like atmosphere.  Assist with personal cares as needed.  Perform and assist with household functions (meal prep, cleaning, laundry, etc.)  Administer medications.  Provide transportation for the individuals when needed.  Respond to emergencies (medical, behavioral, fire, mechanical malfunctions, weather and other).  Solve any related problem that may arise: thereby creating a safe and secure environment.  Complete necessary documentation and record keeping, ensuring that program plans are implemented in a timely and appropriate manner.  Maintain proper communication with all team members.  Check the calendar for events/appointments, also review logs and shift communication. Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings. Other duties as assigned.
