Did You Know…
In 2011, the "baby boom" generation will begin to turn 65, and by 2030, it is projected that 1 in 5 people in the U.S. will be age 65 or older.

The size of the 65+ population is projected to double by that same year, from 35 million in 2000, to 70 million. In 1900, only 1 in 25 Americans were older than 65.

Customized Living Services

LSS Customized Living Services offer ways for seniors in Minnesota to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible. Our current programs allow individuals to age in place, recuperate from hospital stays, and possibly regain involvement in a community that has perhaps overlooked them.

The four LSS Customized Living Services bridge the gap between independent living and nursing homes, particularly for people who are not able to live by themselves but do not require constant care from others:

  • Home Management Services
For those who need help in their own homes with non-healthcare tasks

  • Customized Living Services
Offered in a growing number of apartment buildings around the state, this service caters to varying needs of individuals, from light housekeeping to nursing care.

  • Consumer-Directed Community Supports (CDCS)
A tool that gives seniors and their families the ability to plan their support needs, and directly hire and manage staff who deliver services. Elderly Waiver (EW) recipients and private payers are eligible for this service.

At Lutheran Social Service, Customized Living Services programs are dedicated to enabling seniors to live with dignity, safety and hope.
