Individual, Family and Relationship Counseling

Jan provides individual, couples and family counseling for children, adolescents and adults.

Areas of specialization: 

  • Depression, anxiety, stress management
  • Self-inflicted injury
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) including work with veterans
  • Dialectal Behavior Therapy for  emotional regulation & personality disorders

Applying evidence-based treatment is crucial to help clients reach their goals and improve daily functioning.  Jan has been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in order to effectively work with individuals with emotional regulation and personality disorders.  Training in Cognitive Processing Therapy has prepared Jan to work with individuals who have experienced trauma including veterans dealing with PTSD and re-adjustment issues.

Jan has been a licensed mental health provider with Lutheran Social Services for more than twelve years.  She has a master’s degree in social work from Augsburg College and has work experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting, treatment foster care and therapeutic foster care support.  Jan provides clinical supervision in the Detroit Lakes office.
