It's a new concept. LSS Housing First in Minneapolis seeks to find permanent, affordable housing for families and coordinate services needed to help families gain stability and permanent roots in a community. Become involved as a volunteer:

• Big Brother/Big Sister: Be a role model in a child's life.
     

• Repair Person: Help families with light repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets, or putting a closet door on track. 
     

• Welcome Wagon: Bring cookies or a bag of groceries to a family.
     

• Home ownership education: Teach a "Renter's Class" to help families secure their homes.
     

• Family Support: Provide transportation to appointments or help families fill out various forms.
