As an on-call advocate for the LSS Crisis Nursery in Duluth,
Andrea Simonette is a strong support to families in distress. While some parents need immediate daycare, others just need a listening ear to
sort through problems.
"After my first child was born, I learned the importance of having friends and family available for help, and wanted to offer my help to families who didn't have that kind of
support," she said.
Most evenings, Andrea will be on call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. the next morning with an occasional pick up of a child during that time. Personal rewards are immediate. "When a call starts with an upset parent and ends with a parent who is calm and has hope for tomorrow, you have succeeded…and that's a great feeling!"
