Pre-Adoption Education Seminars
Because it is such an integral part of the adoption process, all prospective adoptive parents are required to attend a Pre-Adoption Education Seminar prior to the completion of their Adoption Study.
Our goal is to provide families with the latest information to better prepare them to parent children through adoption.
Preliminary Online Education and Training
To meet the needs of today’s families, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota offers families the opportunity to complete a portion of their Pre-Adoption Education requirement through our online training partners. This client-friendly option allows you to complete specific training units from the comfort of your own home, without time away from work or lengthy travel. Families can complete the courses in parts or all in one session, as necessary, to meet their own scheduling demands.
Pre-Adoption Classes (Agency Facilitated)
All prospective adoptive parents must attend a one-day workshop, Pre-Adoption Classes, held at our Eustis Street building in St. Paul. Throughout the day, social workers will use small group discussion, personal reflection, presentations and expert panels to cover a variety of essential adoption topics. In order to attend PAC, you must complete your application paperwork and online training; attendance at PAC is required prior to completion of your Adoption Home Study.
PAC topics include:
The expert panels are comprised of adoptive parents, adopted adults and birth parents – real people, real stories!
